Wedding Planner to lieutenant colonel
“Hmm, you working with Nicolas Cage?”
I felt weirdly honored by the lazy joke that the head of security passed at me. Having just flown 500 miles to photograph a military promotion I was a bit nervous to put 3 cameras and 5 lenses on the X-ray conveyor belt at the National Archives Museum. I couldn’t play dumb given they had enough “Photography Strictly Prohibited” signs around to remind me of every vandalized public bathroom stall I’ve ever visited. Once seen, you can never unsee.
I only got in trouble once. Right past security I started photographing feverishly because I knew the whole event would only last 30 minutes. I felt driven to provide the most and best photos I could for Zu. I have worked with her numerous times as a wedding planner in Atlanta. But on this day she was my client, and she was being promoted to the high rank of lieutenant colonel.
“Put your camera away! You can’t take photos in the security screening area!”
“Oh, Right. That makes sense. Sorry.”
Then I had the pleasure of watching and photographing the unfolding an intimate and beautiful ceremony. And following we got creative outside for a few family photos.
