Not Snow Hotlanta Wedding

It snowed exactly one day in Atlanta during 2016 and it just happened to be this day.  How freaking lucky is that?!  When I first started photographing weddings I was inspired by a mystical snow wedding I saw in the mountains of North Carolina.  The portraits from that wedding had such a haunting peace to them.   These photos turned out with more upbeat joy, which is a direct reflection on who these two are.

I was going to be a Nun, but then I met Rutger”

Andy moved to France in 2013 to investigate becoming a nun.  She volunteered and lived at the Taizé Community, which is a place of service and worship where thousands of people travel to every year from around the world.  While serving alongside the sisters in the community eventually the handsome dutchman Rutger passed through.  The two of them hit if off and their friendship evolved in such a manner that she decided the monastic life wasn’t for her.

They had a small, intimate ceremony in Atlanta inviting their closest friends and family.  I loved the untraditional nature they took by getting ready at the same location.  It’s a little cabin in downtown Atlanta with an airstream in the back yard (link for renting the airstream at bottom of post).   In fact, Rutger helped me hang up the wedding dress for the photos I took of it.

The snow had already melted at our original location for photographing their portraits, but thankfully I know tons of beautiful locations in Atlanta.  We reoriented to the Chattahoochee River, and then we finished taking photos at my friend Sims’ lumberyard called Eutree.
